  • Thanks to Fraunhofer’s unique autonomous digitization technology, CultArm3D captures the most challenging surface materials such as gold, bronze or ivory in unmatched repeatable high quality.

  • At all times your precious artifacts are protected by multiple hard- and software safeguards to ensure digitization compliant with standards for detail and color reproduction.

  • Mobility and versatility, simple setup and operation allow for effortless performance at the push of a button.

Technology

Bringing History to the Future

In collaboration with Fraunhofer IGD we developed CultArm3D, a mobile turn-key solution for 3D scanning, that offers reproducible high quality results at the push of a button while ensuring object safety at all times. Our system combines a modular design with unmatched ease-of-use. Operating in a class of its own, it features intelligent view planning of arbitrary objects with physically accurate surface-color representation for virtually every material. The results can be exported as ready-to-use 3D assets without any manual processing. Welcome to the future!

Case Studies

The department for Digitization of Cultural Heritage at Fraunhofer IGD developed and improved the CultArm3D technology through multiple case studies and pilot projects conducted in collaboration with their partners.

“We challenged the CultArm3D System with all difficulties our objects exhibit: reflective or almost black surfaces, complex structured surfaces, cavities. I was surprised: No problem for CultArm3D. I haven’t seen such an autonomous system before.”

Bernhard Schurian,
Museum für Naturkunde Berlin

“We felt safe to entrust CultArm3D with digitizing our collection of celtic bronze and gold artifacts, achieving unmatched quality at the push of a button, even with challenging surface materials.”

Christoph Röder,
Keltenwelt am Glauberg

“Elegance lies in simplicity. CultArm3D is so easy to use and safe, we have opened 3D digitization to the public. Now, more and more amazing treasures come to life each day.”

Dr. Alexander Wolny,
Badisches Landesmuseum

Results

Museums from all around the globe supply us with challenging artifacts, enabling us to keep pushing the limits of what’s possible to achieve with our digitization technologies. Every month since 2021 we share the results of our most interesting digitization projects, so everybody can become a part of our journey. In addition we developed a custom 3D viewer, created to display high quality models on the go. Have a look!
